Skipper's Update

After two seasons getting familiar with the boat, cruising to SW Ireland and NW Spain and an extensive winter overhaul of all systems, we are finally under way. It was frustrating watching a fortnight of sunny skies and fresh Easterly winds, knowing that the weather would break the moment we set off. It did!

In April we undertook a short shake down cruise to Deauville/Trouville and Honfleur, which did provide some snagging issues (and a massive Plateau Royale).

On 1st May we left Caen and have been fattening ourselves up in Normandy for a few days. It was market day in St Vaast, so some superb cheeses (5kg of Beaufort) came aboard, along with smoked meats and general provisions and wines from Mr Gosselin. We will not go hungry or thirsty in the weeks ahead.

The boat will get a drink in St Peter Port on Tuesday morning before we leave for Ireland and sadly we might be using the iron topsail as the winds are forecast to be light and variable.
